Workplace health: Working Well East Midlands
Smoking cessation
The
evidence that exposure to other people’s smoke is dangerous to health is now
incontrovertible. The degree of risk depends on the extent and duration of
exposure. Particularly at risk are bar staff, casino workers and other employees
in workplaces where smoking is routine.
Employers should
- Develop a smoke-free policy
- Give reasonable notice of the introduction of a smoke-free policy and set a smoke-free date
- Provide information on available local stop-smoking services and facilitate access to them
