EMPHASIS ON FOOD AND HEALTH
The East Midlands Food and Health Action Plan
To improve the health and well-being of East Midlands communities through
the provision of safe and sustainable healthy food.
The East Midlands Food and Health Action Plan, (FAHAP) was launched on the 26th July 2006, and sets out a framework in which everyone with an influence on what we eat - from food producers and processors to the NHS, local authorities, schools, caterers, retailers, the media and, of course, consumers themselves can work together to bring about improvements in diet and food safety in the East Midlands.
The Regional FAHAP is, in effect a blueprint for action over the next decade. Our eating habits have developed over many years and it will take time to bring about the desired shift in attitudes and behaviour, but small incremental changes will make a real difference and begin a process which will result in better health.
