Offsetting your carbon footprint by supporting
The Woodland Trust

The Directorate of Public Health – East Midlands has taken a number of steps to reduce the environmental impact of the 2008 annual Public Health Conference. This includes the sourcing of recycled and biodegradable materials for delegate packs, where appropriate; and providing access to information about public transport and lift sharing.

Via the Conference, we would also like to support the work of the Woodland Trust, the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity, currently numbering 300,000 members and supporters. The Woodland Trust now has over 1,000 sites in its care, covering approximately 20,000 hectares (50,000 acres). Access to its sites is free.

The Trust has four key aims:

We will be offering delegates who attend the East Midlands Public Health Conference an opportunity to fund the sustainable planting of trees to help offset their carbon footprint by making a cash donation on the day. If every delegate donates just £1, we will have raised enough money to enable the Woodland Trust to plant 80 trees.
