Conference Programme
This year’s East Midlands Public Health Conference will focus on:
- Commissioning for equal and better health - aiming to ensure that mainstream public services, whatever their primary purpose, will help to improve health and wellbeing, and reduce health inequalities
- The provision of high impact interventions for equal and better health – for example by encouraging increased levels of physical activity, reducing smoking prevalence, improved diet and nutrition
- Promoting better health as a personal aspiration, corporate objective and shared responsibility – as well as seeking to promote individual behaviour change, organisations should seek to behave in ways that improve the health and wellbeing of their employees, clients and the wider community, behaving as a 'good corporate citizen'

Unfortunately, the planned performance of the Boardroom will not take place this morning due to unforeseen circumstances. Instead, Rob Gee, who was involved in developing the performance, will present a short case study about the project, with some musical accompaniment! |
|
Combining dance, drama, comedy and song, The Boardroom, part of the cr8 Healthier Leicestershire programme, was managed by Leicester Comedy Festival, in partnership with Leicestershire County Council and Leicestershire Healthy Schools, and funded by Arts Council England East Midlands. The performance was originally developed by Post 16 pupils at Hind Leys Community College, Leicestershire with input from Metro Boulot Dodo and Rob Gee. The performance shows what can happen when young people are charged with the responsibility to deliver a crucial message to other young people. |
|
Leicester Comedy Festival hopes to be able to stage a performance of The Boardroom to delegates at another time, and you will be informed of this opportunity by e mail. |

|
Comedian and performer Rob Gee will get you talking, networking and working together to solve problems in a way which you've never seen before! In a perfectly safe and unthreatening way (honest!), Rob will lead you through techniques designed to get you talking to the other conference delegates. And if you come prepared with a particular professional challenge, Rob will link you up with colleagues who can help you. It'll be like our own version of Blind Date, but without Cilla and no cringe-worthy questions. |
|
Delegates will also have some time to informally network with colleagues; view exhibitions; enjoy a Relaxation Session, or speak to experts to discover ways to improve their own health |
