What's happening in the East Midlands?
There is a great deal of innovation across the region in the promotion of physical activity. We are keen to develop the creation and sharing of good practice across the region and have carried out a number of projects recently to help provide an overview and ensure that the learning from these projects is not lost.
A comprehensive mapping of physical activity projects in the East Midlands region has been carried out twice by a team from the BHF National Centre for Physical Activity and Health at Loughborough University. Both sets of mapping have shown a wealth of activity and innovation across the region as well as showing how the initiatives have changed from the initial mapping to the follow up.
The results of the mapping are now available, please click here for the results, which can be searched by Geographical Area, Target Group and by Settings. The results so far as only a snapshot of what is truly going on in the East Midlands therefore it is essential that we capture all physical activity initiatives within the region. A number of case studies have been selected from the initial physical activity mapping, these have been taken from a range of sectors including Primary Care, Leisure, Sport and Dance.

Exercise Referral Research
The East Midlands Physical Activity Network and the West Midlands Physical Activity Network have implemented a joint piece of research, which will investigate exercise referral schemes within each region.
